South Korean police said they wanted to question the wife of the Belgian Ambassador Peter Lescouhier after receiving the denunciation of the assault on clothing store staff.

The incident was widely shared on social networks this week, making some Koreans indignant and asked the Belgian Embassy to apologize.

"Police are mobilized to the scene confirming that she is the wife of the Belgian ambassador," said a policeman in Yongsan on April 21.

The Belgian Embassy in Seoul confirmed Xiang hospitalized but did not comment any further.
