The US Department of Finance applied sanctions with two Myanmar state enterprises to undermine the revenue of the military government.
The US Finance Ministry on April 21 issued a statement that they brought Myanmar Timber Enterprise (MTE) and Myanmar Pearl Enterprise Pearl Company to blacklist.
Myanmar protesters built obstacles in Yangon in late March.
International non-profit organizations Environmental investigations This month said the Myanmar military government benefits from exporting teak through MTE.
"Punishments for MTE are a blow to a military government, which directly benefits from valuable forests and is increasingly declining by the country," said Faith Doherty, who heads the campaign
Doherty said sanctions mean that timber or wood products from Myanmar cannot be exported to the US and calls for the American Ministry of Justice "warning in Myanmar wood monitoring into their market".
Myanmar fell into the crisis since the coup in February, when the army arrested Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected leaders.
