Foreign Minister Dominic Raab said Britain would not relinquish responsibility to Hong Kong if mainland China pushed for a resolution on the new security law in the special zone.
"We will not ignore it, we will not abandon the responsibility for the people of Hong Kong," Foreign Minister Raab said today in an interview with the BBC.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Raab called on China "not to reach the brink" and to live with the responsibility of a leading member of the international community.
Overseas UK national passports are issued to Hong Kong people born before 1997, when they return Hong Kong to China, and according to current regulations.
Passport holders can travel to the UK for up to 6 months, but cannot work or apply for citizenship.
The National People's Congress (NPC), the Chinese parliament, voted on May 28 to approve a resolution on building Hong Kong security laws.
The British government believes that this risks undermining the principle of "one country, two regimes".
