US marines Duroseau was arrested in Haiti after firing guns, bullets and armor in the hopes of becoming the president of Haiti.
Federal prosecutors in North Carolina charged Jacques Yves Sebastien Duroseau, a Haitian-American, last week on charges of smuggling weapons. The marines were arrested in Haiti last month.
According to the indictment, Duroseau, a military weapons guide at the marines base in Quantico town, Virginia, USA. Investigators said Duroseau bought eight guns of all kinds in the city of Jacksonville, near Camp Lejeune in northeastern Carolina, and then brought them to Haiti to teach shooting for the island nation's soldiers.
According to the indictment released on November 27, an undisclosed man in the marines helped Duroseau to check out at New Bern, North Carolina, to fly to Haiti. Duroseau carried three weapons barrels including 5 pistols and 3 military rifles and bullets.
He told investigators that Duroseau "wanted to help Haiti and wanted to be the President of Haiti".
Haitian police arrested Duroseau as soon as he arrived in Port-au-Prince on November 12. Haitian officials told the Miami Herald they "began to suspect seeing three black boxes, two of which were fairly long".
In an interview with agents of the Naval Criminal Investigation Agency in Haiti, Duroseau said he wanted to "dress in the military uniform and kill the destabilizing thugs in Haiti" to help the islanders.
Duroseau's records on the US Marines website said he was in Haiti when the island nation suffered a devastating earthquake in 2010 and was trapped four days before being rescued.
"I took a long time to find my parents because driving was impossible, so I had to walk. There are many things that you wish you had never seen. There are a lot of corpses there. , and the worst thing is the stench. It's sad to see that scene, "Duroseau said.
