The US Navy MH-60S helicopter dropped a $ 2 million torpedo clearance system when training off the coast of Virgina.

The US Navy on July 24 announced the successful salvage of the AN / AQS-235 Aerial Torpedo Disables complex, which was dropped by MH-60S helicopter of the 2nd Naval Combat Helicopter Squadron near the mouth of Chesapeake Bay.

"The incident occurred when the helicopter accidentally dropped the AN / AQS-235 system into the waters at the training ground. No soldiers were injured, the helicopter was not damaged. We considered this an incident.

The U.S. Navy did not make a public announcement about the device drop, it was only mentioned in the incident list of the Maritime Safety Center (NSC), which tracks major naval and marine accidents.

NSC marked the fall of this device as a Group A incident, which caused damage to assets of more than $ 2 million.

AN / ASQ-235 is specially used for clearing underwater mines or suspended in water.
