The Justice Department added evidence in the indictment against WikiLeaks Assange, accusing him of hacking hackers and conspiracy to hack computers.

The indictment, published by the Justice Department on June 24, adds new evidence that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange conspires to engage with individuals from the hacker groups LulzSec and Anonymous.

Assange is facing 18 criminal charges in the US and the latest Justice Department indictment does not increase charges against him, only reinforcing existing charges.

Wikileaks posted on Twitter the same day that "the new indictment against Julian Assange is yet another pathetic attempt by the US Department of Justice to deceive the public".

Assange, a 48-year-old Australian citizen, was indicted by the US under the espionage act in 2010 when he was shocked by the publication of thousands of classified documents from the Pentagon referring to US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

WikiLeaks has fled to the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden on charges of raping a woman in the country.
