Health Secretary Azar filed for Trump's resignation under the process, saying that the Capitol Hill riots could "tarnish" the administration's legacy.
US Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar on January 12 sent a resignation letter to President Donald Trump according to a cabinet member's process with the president coming out of office.
"Unfortunately, the actions and statements after the election, especially in the past week, threaten to tarnish those achievements and many of the historical legacy left by this administration," Minister Azar wrote and
Azar argued that the Capitol Hill riots were "an attack on American democracy and a tradition of peaceful power transfer", calling on President Trump to condemn every act of violence and ensure no one does.
In the letter, the US Secretary of Health and Human Services commented that the Covid-19 pandemic was the biggest development of Trump's term, but did not mention the number of more than 23 million nCoV infections and more than 390,000 deaths.
