Speaking on state television yesterday, Iranian Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi said the country recorded a total of 61 cases of nCoV, denying information given by a congressman, that 50 Iranians died of nCoV. He is also committed to providing transparent information.

Iranian authorities have ordered the cancellation of concerts, school closures and sports complexes across the country to prevent the disease.

The outbreak broke out amid Iran's economy heavily hit by U.S. sanctions, after the Trump administration withdrew from its nuclear deal with Iran and major powers in 2018.

The disease threatens to isolate this country further. Many countries stopped flying to an Islamic state after confirmed cases of nCoV infections from Iran were confirmed in Canada, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Some neighboring countries closed the border with Iran. A representative of Dubai International Airport today said it had stopped all flights to and from Iran, except Tehran.

Six Arab countries have reported their first cases, all linked to Iran. Kuwait said the number of cases had increased to 8. Bahrain also recorded 8 cases.

The Covid-19 outbreak has been reported in 35 countries and territories after its onset in Wuhan, China, December 2019. The world currently records more than 80,000 infections, more than 2,700 deaths, mostly in mainland China.
