Iran today confirmed two deaths from nCoV among 13 new infections, bringing the number of deaths to 4 and the number of infections to 18.
"13 new infections have been confirmed. Unfortunately, two of them have died," Iranian Ministry of Health spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour posted on Twitter today, adding that new cases include "seven people in the city." Qom, 4 people in Tehran and two people in Gilan ".
Jahanpour said most of the new virus infections are still Qom residents or people from Qom to other provinces in recent days and weeks. He declined to comment on the suspected source that led to the outbreak of Covid-19 in the Islamic Republic.
An Iranian Ministry of Health spokesman said the country had received four batches of medical equipment from the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the detection of corona virus.
Iran on Monday confirmed the first two cases of nCoV and said the two patients were isolated in Qom, more than 130 km south of Tehran. On the same evening, the country announced that two patients had died "due to old age and immune system problems".
After the first two cases of nCoV infection in Iran, Iraq yesterday announced tightening control of its journey to and from the Islamic Republic. The country's health ministry also said Iranian people were banned from entering Iraq "until further notice".
Kuwait Airways, the national airline of Kuwait, also announced it would suspend all flights to Iran.
