The Hubei government today continues to correct the daily number of corona virus infections, prompting the public to question the official figure.

The Hubei Provincial Health Commission this afternoon corrected the number of new daily cases of nCoV from 411 to 631. The agency said it was caused by an additional 230 prisoners in the province who were reported positive for corona virus.

This is the third time in a month that the Hubei Provincial Health Commission has revised the data on cases and deaths from nCoV. The change was announced hours after China's National Health Commission released data contradicting a report in the early morning of Hubei Province, the Covid-19 epidemic.

There is increasing suspicion of official data published from China, which accounts for the majority of corona virus infections and deaths. This afternoon's adjustment of Hubei came a day after the province reported new cases of sharp declines. Many doubt Chinese officials are pushing the theory that the disease is now under control.

Yesterday, Hubei reported only 349 new cases of corona virus, a sharp decline from 1,693 cases a day ago. This is also the lowest increase since January 25. The provincial government did not explain the sudden decline in the number of new cases, but this could stem from the Chinese National Health Commission's new calculation.

According to the new guidelines, currently reported cases in China will be divided into two categories, including "suspected cases" and "confirmed cases". Cases of nCoV infection are only counted when there are positive results for the virus based on a nucleic acid test.

This new calculation basically abolished the statistical method released by the Hubei Provincial Health Commission on Feb. 13, which counts clinically diagnosed cases of nCoV infection in the number of cases, instead of solely based on the outcome. test results as before. Clinical diagnosis results may be based on disease symptoms or a chest x-ray. The move has led to a spike in cases in Hubei on February 13, 10 times more than the daily reported data.

The National Health Commission also revised the data on February 14, from 1,488 people killed by Covid-19 across the mainland, to 1,380, down 108 deaths. The agency explained that there was a statistical error in Hubei Province, when the number of deaths was calculated twice.

The Covid-19 outbreak in Wuhan since December 2019 has now appeared in 28 countries and territories around the world, making 76,202 people infected, 2,247 dead. Today, more than 500 new cases of corona virus infection have been discovered in prisons throughout China, raising concerns about new outbreaks.
