Two former officers of the General Department of Foreign Affairs of France were sentenced to 8-12 years in prison for espionage for China, according to local media.

French authorities did not disclose details of the trial, but local media reported the two former officers worked for Chinese intelligence.
During the July 6 hearing, they were accused of "providing information to foreign powers" and "damaging national interests".
In addition, Laurence H, Pierre-Marie H's wife, also received a 4-year sentence, according to French radio France Info.
In 1997, Henri M was appointed DGSE branch in Beijing.
Meanwhile, Pierre-Marie H, an officer who has never been abroad, was arrested at Zurich airport for carrying cash after meeting a Chinese on an island in the Indian Ocean.
French officials have not commented on this information.
