The former US president also proposed removing voting by mail, requiring voters who vote in person to present identification and those who vote absent must match their common signatures.

Trump's statement, drafted with help from former adviser Stephen Miller, comes as Republicans are pushing to change election laws and suggest new restrictions on voting after

Dozens of local Republican lawmakers have introduced laws aimed at restricting voting patterns in states across the country.

Former President Trump also urged Republicans to strongly fight against the new voting right, which would amend the voting rules and include a provision that independent committees would appoint.

"This monster needs to be stopped," Trump said.

Even before the election began in November 2020, Trump repeatedly denounced the vote by mail as "fraud" and opposed this form of voting.
