A two-year-old dog was sworn in an Illinois state prosecutor's office to assist children who were sexually assaulted.
At a ceremony in Cook County prosecutor's office, Illinois, USA, October 29, Hatty placed his right foot on the law book. This is the first therapeutic dog to join the prosecutor's office.
"Come to this job with compassion and understanding of what the victim went through to help ensure the system is fair and for everyone," prosecutor Kim Foxx said. "Hatty is trained to provide comfort and relaxation to victims while they are at court or providing testimony."
Hatty is a female dog trained at the Duo team, which provides support dogs and training organizations based in Missouri. After working in the Cook County prosecutor's office, Hatty expects to help 150-200 cases a year.
"We are proud to have Hatty to provide relief to the victims as they go through this difficult process," Cook County prosecutor's office said.
