Spain reported an additional 838 deaths, a record daily increase, bringing nCoV deaths to 6,528 despite a nationwide blockade of two weeks.

The Spanish Ministry of Health today said it recorded an additional 6,549 nCoV infections and 838 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the number of cases and deaths to 78,797 and 6,528, respectively. This is the largest daily increase in deaths since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

Covid-19 appears in nearly 200 countries and territories around the world, leaving 668,000 people infected and more than 31,000 dead. Spain is currently the fourth largest epidemic region in the world after the US, Italy and mainland China.

Spain has spent two weeks since the nationwide blockade order was issued, expected to last until at least April 11. New figures are reported in the context of a significant increase in nCoV testing in Spain.
