Prime Minister Hamdok was moved to a safe and unscathed location during the assassination, Salih said.

Witnesses said the attack occurred near the Kober Bridge connecting North Khartoum with the city center, where Hamdok's office was located. Field footage shows multiple utility vehicles damaged, including one severely damaged.

Sudanese national television said a bomb vehicle had exploded, while Sudanese radio reported that the convoy was attacked by infantry weapons and an unidentified warhead. "The attack began from a high-rise building," a witness said.

Hamdok was appointed head of transition government after former president Omar al-Bashir was ousted last year. The assassination attempt occurred as his administration struggled to deal with the economic crisis and the protests did not end after al-Bashir was deposed.
