South Korea fined more than $ 8,000 for people with nCoV infection to hide their travel history, Saudi Arabia will force the person who falsifies health status to pay $ 133,000.
"The government could impose a fine of up to 10 million won (US $ 8,300) on patients who fail to truthfully report travel history, accommodation and important information to health officials," said the deputy minister. South Korean Health Kim Gang-lip today said at a press conference in Seoul.
The measure was taken after a 78-year-old patient in Seoul was confirmed to be positive for nCoV on March 8, but did not report repeated recalls to the Daegu epidemic after showing symptoms. The patient also gave false information about her place of residence many times, being interviewed by health workers, making it difficult for officials to determine the route and people who used to contact her.
The patient said she hid her accommodation because she was refused a admission by a general hospital in Seoul. Vice Minister Kim promised to handle all medical facilities that do not accept patients from Daegu without good cause.
South Korean National Police Agency Director Min Gab-ryong said security forces were studying cases and would "quickly" handle unusual cases.
Saudi national television today announced it would impose a fine of up to 500,000 riyal ($ 133,000) on those who make false statements about their health when they enter the country.
Covid-19 originated in Wuhan, China, since December 2019, appeared in 109 countries and territories, causing more than 110,000 people infected, more than 3,800 people died. South Korea is the second largest outbreak in the world, with nearly 7,500 cases and 53 deaths, while Saudi Arabia recorded 15 cases of nCoV positive and no deaths.
