As a rule, the electors will meet on the second Wednesday in December, which is December 14, this year, to elect the president and vice president.

It is estimated that Biden won 306 electoral votes, while current President Donald Trump won 232 votes.

The electoral college election will also be a blow to Trump's attempt to overturn the US election results, because it will officially neutralize any legal challenges to the election results.

Some electors may break their party's pledge to vote and they are called "disobedient electors".

However, disobedient electors have never changed the outcome of the US presidential election.

In July, the US Supreme Court issued a ruling allowing states to require electors to support the candidate chosen by the majority of the popular electors, as well as empowering states to punish electors.

After counting votes, the electors sign 6 certificates of election results.

At 1:00 p.m. on January 6, the President of the Senate will preside over a plenary session of parliament to read aloud the certificates of the electoral votes of each state, in alphabetical order.

If congressmen do not have any written objections to the certification of electoral votes, the President of the Senate will formally confirm the election of the president to be elected and the vice president elected.

Operation Trump and his allies have launched dozens of lawsuits demanding recounting of votes in many states as well as in the US Supreme Court.

Despite his consecutive failures, Trump was determined not to give up and shared on Twitter that "we are just starting to fight".
