The Thai Constitutional Court issued a decision to disband the Towards the Future and ban 10-year political party executive committee members.

"The Forward-Looking Party (FFP) is ordered to disband under the political party law of 2017," the Thai Constitutional Court ruled yesterday, arguing it violated the law for accepting 191 million baht. million dollars) from billionaire Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, who founded the party.

The Thai Constitutional Court's ruling also banned Thanathorn and the 15 members of the FFP executive committee from being banned from politics for the next 10 years.

More than 60 members of the FFP are currently Thai parliamentarians with 60 days to join another party.

Thanathorn denied the allegation, arguing that the $ 6 million was a loan and urged supporters to continue fighting. "It's time to prove that they can't destroy us. We need to be stronger. Be resilient and don't change your dreams," Thanathorn said.

Thanathorn told supporters that the FFP will change its name and become a movement focused on environmental and education issues. The word "party" has been crossed out from the group logo. The European Union (EU) harshly criticized the Thai Constitutional Court's decision to disband the FFP Party and called it to be more open in political matters.

The FFP Party was formed in March 2018 and won third place in last year's general election in Thailand. The party has a credo of activity towards "reducing the military's role in Thai politics" and is supported by many young people.

This is not the first time Thailand has disbanded a political party. In 2007, Thailand dissolved the Thai Rak Thai party of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, eight months after he was overthrown by the army in a coup d'etat.
