Russian citizen Olesya Krasilova was arrested by Spain, possibly at the request of the United States, for allegedly exchanging biological data for third parties.

"According to some of our sources, Olesya Krasilova citizens may be arrested at the request of the US side. We will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the legal rights and interests of Krasilova. The citizen of Krasilova. will be provided with maximum support within the framework of the powers of the Russian diplomatic missions, "according to a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 21.

Krasilova, who arrived in Spain on 10 February, was an interpreter for a delegation of a government organization under the Russian agricultural inspection agency. Krasilova was arrested on February 14 at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife airport for allegedly exchanging biological data with third parties.

If extradited to the United States, Krasilova could face life imprisonment. Krasilova used to work as a fingerprint collector at the US embassy, then moved to work at the All-Russia Plant Protection Institute (VNIIKR).

The Russian Foreign Ministry said its representative in the Canary Islands, Spain, visited Krasilova and provided warm clothes and toiletries.
