Russian President suggested that Moscow, Washington do not deploy some types of missiles in Europe and build a control mechanism instead of the INF treaty.
"We hold a consistent view that the 9M729 missile that complies with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty has been canceled. However, Russia is willing to show its goodwill by not deploying the missile on its own.
The Russian leaders also suggested that Moscow and Washington apply joint monitoring and confirmation measures to build trust and "remove existing concerns" after the INF's cancellation.
The Kremlin earlier proposed "stress relief measures", in which the US would let Russia inspect the Aegis Ashore system in Europe, in exchange for Moscow allowing Washington to inspect the 9M729 missile operating facility in the territory.
The INF was signed by the US and the Soviet Union in 1987, which prohibited the two countries from developing ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles with a range of 500-5,500 km.
Moscow denied the allegations and argued that Washington did not comply with the INF by placing the Aegis Ashore complexes that could launch Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of 2,500 km in Europe.
The US wants to revise the agreement to include China and new weapons, while Russia is ready to extend a five-year extension without additional conditions.
