US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been in contact with a CoV positive person and he is quarantined despite a negative test result.

"For security reasons, we cannot publicly identify the Secretary of State that has been contacted," the State Department spokesman said in Washington on October 16.

"The Secretary of State has tested and has a negative result. According to the CDC's instructions, he must be quarantined. The Secretary is being closely monitored by the ministry's medical team."

While Trump regularly appears in public without a mask, Pompeo often wears a mask on his overseas trips.

Pompeo and his wife, Susan, hosted a party on December 15 for the families of US diplomats working abroad.

US health officials warn against organizing large gatherings in the home when Covid-19 has infected more than 17 million people, and more than 300,000 deaths in the United States.

Several officials in the Trump administration were infected with nCoV.
