Trump wants to accept the vaccine but knows Biden will not give him that.
For their part, Joe Biden's team knew that in order to encourage Americans to get the Covid-19 vaccine, their biggest obstacle was to convince groups that supported President Donald Trump, who were always hesitant about vaccines.
Some of the names being targeted for the position include Fox News host Sean Hannity or Senator Rand Paul, a health policy adviser on Biden's transition team said.
Meanwhile, Trump and his allies continued to deliver inconsistent messages about nCoV, underestimate basic medical guidelines and foster misinformation about treatments, leading them to
Trump aides said the President would not want to help Biden.
"Biden's right party prism is a disadvantage for the nation at this difficult time," said Bryan Lanza, who worked on Trump's 2016 campaign and retains a close relationship with the White House.
These are only the latest signs that partisan divisions are hindering America's ability to fight a pandemic, even as political leaders are mostly unanimous on what goals are to be achieved.
"The best way for Trump to acknowledge the vaccine is to personally support scientists and scientific processes, thereby giving people confidence in vaccines," said Georges Benjamin, head of the Medical Association.
By January 20, Biden will take over the US vaccination effort, a mission seen as challenging for the new administration.
And the group that needs most persuasion is probably Republicans.
Many researchers say "novel strategies" are needed to convince these people to agree to participate in the immunization effort in the US.
However, Biden's team has so far not discussed asking Trump to participate in the vaccination effort, as it is seen as an attractive reward but very high risk, according to sources close to Biden
"Not only is he so unpredictable, but should you let someone who has dealt with public health become a vaccine messenger?", The source said.
Besides, a health policy adviser on Biden's transition team added that in order to be able to coordinate with Trump on vaccines, Biden needs to be willing to give more credit to the Trump administration.
However, the Trump team believes Biden will not give the outgoing president this kind of respect.
Even a senior Trump campaign aide said the new vaccine should be called the "Trump vaccine."
"Why not? Other vaccines take a few years. We only do it for a year. This is unprecedented," Lanza said.
Marc Lotter, a senior aide to the Trump campaign, said that Americans would remember Trump's dedication to the vaccine for years after the pandemic subsided.
However, observers said that when the Trump and Biden group is a deep hole of skepticism and partisan divisions as at present, it seems unlikely that the two sides will cooperate to carry out the construction campaign.
As a result, even though both heads of the country have vowed to push ahead with the vaccination campaign to eradicate the pandemic, their split has made expectations for a joint effort far from over.
