Spain recorded an additional 832 deaths from nCoV today, a record increase in 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 5,690 in 72,248 cases.
Data reported in the context of Spain significantly increased nCoV testing. The new incidence appears to be on the decline, although the country has recorded 8,189 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours. Officials also said the disease is likely to peak.
Madrid remains the most heavily affected area, with 2,757 deaths and 21,520 cases, overloading hospitals and mortuary sites. Local authorities are working on a plan to renovate an abandoned building near the airport into a second field morgue. The army is also involved in collecting and transporting the bodies.
Spain has spent two weeks since the nationwide blockade order was issued on March 14, expected to last until at least April 11. This morning the country received 1.2 million masks from China and will provide health workers, security forces and transportation workers.
Spain is currently the fourth largest epidemic region in the world after the US, Italy and mainland China. Covid-19 appeared in nearly 200 countries and territories around the world. Globally, more than 614,000 cases have been reported, more than 28,000 have died and more than 137,000 have recovered.
