TanzaniaSaniniu Laizer, who became a millionaire in June thanks to two Tanzanite gems, has just found another $ 2 million worth.

The third gem was found by 6.3-year-old Laizer, in the Simanjiro district, in Manyara, in northern Tanzania.

Tanzanite is a gemstone found only in the northern region of this East African nation and is used to make jewelry.

In June, Mr. Laizer, 52, became a millionaire overnight after digging two large blue-green Tanzanite stones never before seen in the country, weighing 9.2 and 5.8 kg.

"There is no faster solution than selling gems to the government. They are very transparent," he said at the Mirerani mine yesterday.

After becoming a millionaire in June, the father of 30 said that luck would not change his lifestyle and will continue to look after his 2,000 cows.

Tanzania last year set up trading centers across the country for miners to sell gems and gold to the government.

Individual miners like Laizer ask for government permits to find Tanzanite, but illegal mining is practically common, especially near mines owned by large companies.

In April 2018, the Tanzanian President built a 24 km wall around tanzanite mines in the north of the country to prevent gem smuggling across the border.
