Brazil: Two photographers of military police riding a large water buffalo patrol the streets of Marajo Island, captured by a photographer.
Photographer Fernando Camara took photos of two military police riding a buffalo on a patrol while visiting Marajo Island off Brazil's northern coast this month. Camara said that the military police here have a tradition of riding docile buffaloes and weighing more than 450 kg this week.
"This is a tourist attraction. However, the initial goal of patrolling the buffalo to patrol is to ensure security and preserve the culture of the local people," Camara said.
There are about 450,000 domesticated and wild water buffaloes on Marajo Island, more than its population. In addition to patrolling, the water buffalo also carries farm equipment, supplies milk, meat and skin.
