Major broadcasters will broadcast an ad, in which first lady Melania Trump called and instructed her to wash her hands properly, to combat Covid-19.
The White House on March 18 said Melania appeared in an advertisement promoting how to wash her hands and keep her distance from others to prevent Covid-19. The ad content directs the viewer to the site which contains sufficient information about Covid-19, coronavirus.gov. The advertisement will be broadcast by many broadcasters such as ABC, CBS, NBC and many others.
The advertisement aims to "communicate the most important ways Americans can protect themselves and those at risk", according to the White House statement. Funding for advertising will be donated by broadcasters.
Channel Nickelodeon, USA, said it would produce a propaganda video about Covid-19 specifically for children. The object of this channel is mainly teenagers aged 8-17.
First lady Melania, a former fashion model, is less likely to appear in public than her predecessors. Her signature campaign, Be Best, focuses on safety and happiness for American children.
Covid-19 appeared in nearly 180 countries and territories after the onset in Wuhan, China in December 2019, leaving more than 220,000 infected, nearly 9,000 dead and more than 85,000 recovering. The United States recorded more than 9,400 cases and 155 deaths from the disease.
President Trump declared a national emergency on Covid-19 and triggered the National Defense Production Law to accelerate production of the equipment needed for the fight against Covid-19. Millions of Americans have to study and work from home before the unpredictable developments of the disease.
