Heathrow airport authorities blockade 8 planes after some passengers showed symptoms of corona virus infection.
US airline United Airlines confirmed employees at Heathrow airport in London, England yesterday supported flight number 901 from San Francisco after a passenger felt unwell.
"The safety of our customers and staff is our highest priority. We will continue to work closely with local authorities," said United Airlines representative. It is unclear what problem this passenger is having and where he is from.
"The initial notice said someone was ill and would be taken out. The captain said there was a suspected case of corona virus infection and that person was isolated at the end of the plane," passenger Andy West recounted. adding that health officials appear before they are allowed to leave. Passengers must sit on the plane for about 30 minutes after landing.
West said the captain also announced that seven other aircraft had suspected new corona virus (nCoV) infections. Heathrow airport management declined to comment, but the operation was still normal, all runways were open.
According to West, no employee wore protective gear when taking passengers suspected of nCoV infection to the end of the aircraft. The health officials who came later were fully equipped. Witnesses said anxiety began to appear at the time, although no one appeared to panic.
"It makes me nervous. The ability to be near germs is ominous, but what we have to do now is wait and see if that case is really infected," West said.
There are 9 confirmed cases of nCoV in the UK and no deaths have been reported.
British MP Alex Sobel said yesterday he would be tested for nCoV without any symptoms, due to the British Bus Conference he participated on 6 February in the presence of a virus-positive person. Sobel canceled jobs until February 20.
Lilian Greenwood, a congressman who also attended the conference, said she canceled the schedule until February 20 to isolate herself and call conference attendees to contact the authorities.
The pandemic of coronary pneumonia (Covid-19), originating from Wuhan, China, has been reported in 27 countries and territories around the world, making 67,100 people infected and 1,526 dead.
