Many consumers buy industrial bleach chlorine dioxide on the Amazon site and drink it against Covid-19, despite warnings from health officials.
Chlorine dioxide is currently sold on the Amazon e-commerce site under the brand names CD Kit and SodiumChlor.
However, comments from Amazon customers in the feedback section of the page show how many drops of bleach they discussed and they are taking a chemical called MMS to "disinfect themselves".
A shopper written in Spanish said his family started drinking bleach soon after the pandemic struck America.
Another shared: "My mother is 77 years old, has Covid-19 and has a stomach ache, very headache, fatigue. She started using MMS and I did not joke, she recovered half the day.
The bleach sold on Amazon is mainly used in industrial processes including textile manufacturing, pulp and paper bleaching.
The advocates of MMS also claim that this is the cure for most diseases, including malaria, HIV / Aids, cancer and now Covid-19.
Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been working to stop many fraudsters from selling quack drugs with anti-nCoV purposes.
The American Association of Poison Control Centers has recorded more than 16,000 cases of chlorine dioxide poisoning, including 2,500 cases of children under 12 years of age.
Several oral bleach deaths have been reported across South America, including in Argentina, where a 5-year-old boy died in August from using chlorine dioxide to cure Covid-19.
In the past, Amazon has removed a number of comments in favor of MMS from its platform, including those from the pro-bleach movement founder Jim Humble.
In March, Amazon pledged to remove the list of quack products promoting Covid-19 cure.
Fiona O’Leary, an anti-MMS campaigner in Ireland, said she was "very shocked and heartbroken" to see that Amazon was still selling the product.
