The US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan left Moscow today after nearly three years of acceptance.

According to the announcement from the US Embassy in Moscow, Sullivan, who has a career that lasts for 4 decades and has worked under 5 US presidents, will retire after returning home.

Elizabeth Rood, an interim of the US Embassy in Russia, will handle the work until the successor of Mr. Sullivan comes to take on the mission, notifying it.

Mr. Sullivan used to be Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and held the position of US Ambassador to Russia in December 2019.

Last year, Sullivan left Moscow a few months after Washington announced a new sanctions on Russia and the Kremlin summoned the Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov.
