Prime Minister Ly Hien Long announced that Singapore would abolish the criminal law of gay sexual sex dates back to colonies.
In an important policy speech today, Prime Minister Ly said that the public's attitude has changed since 15 years ago, when the Government decided to maintain a penalty for acts of sex.
Homosexuals are now more well received, especially in the community of young Singaporeans, he said.

Inheriting from the British colonial period, Section 377A Penal Code of Singapore stipulates a penalty of up to two years in prison for sex acts between men and men.
The mobilists for homosexual rights have long argued that this law seriously affects the increasingly modern and integrated culture of Singapore.
The government will abolish the 377A and non -criminalization of gay sex behavior.
However, Prime Minister Ly noted that traditional marriage institutions will still be maintained and protected.
