President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Luhan left Hanoi this morning, to officially visit Laos at the invitation of the General Secretary, President of Laos.

This is the first bilateral visit of a senior leader of Vietnam after the 11th National Party Congress, also the first foreign tour of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc as the President.

This is also the first time since the XI, Lao Party Congress welcomes a foreign country's headquarters to visit.

During the visit, leaders of the two countries will discuss further promoting political and diplomatic relations, especially in the context of Covid-19 pandemic, as an important basis to promote bilateral cooperation in trade

In the context of Pandemic Covid-19, Vietnam and Laos still retain momentum and develop relationships in the fields.

Trade turnover in the first 6 months of the year reached 670 million USD, an increase of over 36.5% compared to the same period in 2020. Vietnam has 209 projects in Laos also valid with the total registered capital of about 5.16 billion
