India evacuates more than 500,000 people before Hurricane Yaas swept through the eastern region, becoming the second storm landing in only 10 days.

Today's Meteorological Agency announced that Typhoon Yaas was formed on Bengal Bay, expected to land in West Bengal and Odisha on May 26.

Police asked people to leave the coast before Tauktae stormed last week.

Javed Ahmed Khan, head of West Bengal disaster response agency, said the evacuation order was executed in areas near the coast and Sundarbans mangrove forest from yesterday.

Odisha officials said the evacuation plan was prepared, the government was arranging the backup power source for medical oxygen production facilities provided to the Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the troops and a disaster response force was deployed to prepare storms, as well as ready for rescue campaigns.
