Gazprom Group announced that it was impossible to guarantee a supply of gas to Europe as a force majeure situation and they were not responsible.

Reuters on July 18 announced a letter from Russian gas group Gazprom, which declared a force majeure situation for supply from June 14.

The statement does not mean that Gazprom will stop delivery, but this group will not be responsible if they do not meet the terms of the contract.

Force majeure is a provision included in contracts to eliminate responsibilities for inevitable situations, interrupting with the expected process and preventing parties from performing obligations.

Information given in the context of Nord Stream 1, gas pipeline from Russia to Germany, is going through the process of periodic maintenance lasting 10 days every year, expected to end on July 21.

Gazprom has not commented on the above information.
