Nord Stream 1 is the largest gas pipeline from Russia to Germany through the Baltic Sea, transporting about 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Many European countries are concerned that Russia can extend the maintenance time to further tighten the supply of gas, disturbing the storage plan for the winter and pushing the gas crisis in the escalating area.
The pipeline is only paused for scheduling maintenance.
