Belgian police over the weekend caught four suspects related to what Vincent Van Quickenborne described as a plan to kidnap him.
Justice Minister Quickenborne, who is also the mayor of Kortrijk city in Flanders, western Belgium, accused a drug mafia organization that has plotted to kidnap him.
In a statement on the Belgian state television channel RTBF on September 25, Minister Quickenborne said that in the middle of the week, a federal prosecutor warned him of the conspiracy to kidnap.

On September 24, the federal prosecutors announced that they mobilized security to protect Mr. Quickenborne for a serious threat.
A spokesman for the Dutch prosecution office, headquartered in The Hague, said all three suspects were Dutch, 20, 29 and 48 years old.
On September 25, a judicial source said the fourth suspect was also arrested in the Netherlands.

The prosecutor's office said they were informed last week about a potential threat to Minister Quickenborne but did not provide additional details.
