YouTube announced it would remove all new videos containing allegations that the 2020 US presidential election occurred.
"The states have certified their presidential election results, so we will remove any videos posted from today (or whenever thereafter) that contain allegations of large-scale election fraud or allegations.
YouTube said the move is in line with its election goal of "connecting people with legitimate information, limiting harmful misinformation, and removing false content."
In late November, four Democratic senators urged YouTube to censor "false or misleading" videos related to the 2020 presidential election. MPs wrote to YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki,
"We urge you to immediately remove all false information and promptly enforce the restrictions on election results as other social media companies do," the congressmen wrote.
YouTube's policy change could make the tech giant face anger from President Donald Trump and his allies in the final days of his term.
President Trump has not yet accepted this year's election results and has repeatedly accused of fraud.
