Vietnam and the UK are supporting families to provide support for 39 victims in a humanitarian spirit, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said this afternoon.

"The authorities of the two sides are continuing to coordinate so that as soon as possible to complete the matters on the rear and soon have information on specific issues," said Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Ministry spokesman. Vietnamese diplomats said at the press conference this afternoon, referring to the return of the bodies of 39 Vietnamese killed in containers in the UK to the country.

The support of the victims' families is done in a humane spirit, in accordance with the provisions of international law, laws and practices of Vietnam and the UK, Ms. Hang said. However, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that so far no information has been received about whether the UK will provide financial support and funding for this.

Thirty-one bodies were found in the trunk of a container truck at Grays Industrial Park, Essex County, northeast of London on October 23. British police later confirmed that all the victims were Vietnamese citizens.

On the sidelines of the National Assembly meeting this morning, Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the government has decided to advance the cost to support families to return the ashes or the bodies of 39 victims to the country. The local then works with families to return this cost to the budget in accordance with regulations.
