China Huangjiang and Ngauzhou City banned trains, coaches and public transport from today to tackle the pandemic pneumonia.
All long-distance trains and buses will be banned from entering Huangjiang, a city of 7.5 million people in Hubei province, central China, from 0h tomorrow. The city's public transport systems have also been shut down, while crowded venues such as cinemas, central markets and entertainment facilities are also closed indefinitely.
Ngac Chau City with one million residents also announced the application of similar measures. Individuals who enter and exit the city by personal means will be checked for symptoms of infection.
Huangjiang and Wuzhou are the neighboring towns of Wuhan, where the onset of pneumonia caused by a completely new strain of the corona family (nCoV). Hundreds of people were infected and 17 died. The Wuhan government has imposed a blockade on railroads, aviation and highways from today.
The disease has spread to many other populous cities in China and to the United States, Thailand, South Korea and Japan. Some countries such as the United Kingdom and Singapore tighten check on passengers on flights from China. Beijing on January 20 confirmed that the virus could be transmitted from person to person.
