The Turkish guard trained with the American destroyers, while the Greek navy trained with the three countries in the eastern Mediterranean.

"The Turkish Navy continues to train with allies. Battlecruiser TCG Barbaros and small battleship TCG Burgazada trained with the American destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill in the eastern Mediterranean.

On the same day, navies of Greece, France, Italy and the Republic of Cyprus started joint exercises under the Quartet Cooperation Initiative (QUAD), which took place on August 26-28 in the eastern Mediterranean.

Foreign naval forces are present in the eastern Mediterranean amid escalating Greek-Turkish tensions as Ankara deploys gas exploration in an area that Greece and the Republic of Cyprus consider a privileged zone.

Greece repeatedly requested that Turkey stop the seismic survey and leave the disputed area but received no response.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the country would not give in to Greece in the Mediterranean.

"Turkey does not look at anyone's territory, sovereignty or interests, but never compromises with what belongs to us. We are determined to do everything that is necessary politically, economically.

Territorial disputes between Turkey, Greece and the island of Cyprus have been going on for many years.

Greek and Turkish forces have been confronted over the past weeks in disputed waters.
