Turkish President Recep Erdogan on October 18 said he was ready to launch a full-scale attack if the Kurds did not withdraw from the border "safe zone" during the period of the suspension.

Shortly after the ceasefire began, gun battles were still taking place in the town of Ras al-Ain, where pro-Turkish rebel groups fought with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). ) with the core of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), forces considered by Ankara to be terrorists.
