Trump has criticized many news outlets as false, for he reports less viewers at the Republican convention than his rival Biden.

The speech accepting Donald Trump's presidential nomination at the Republican National Conference on August 27 attracted 23.4 million followers, compared with 24.6 million when Joe Biden spoke.

In response to this report, President Trump released metrics that his campaign collects on its own, including online and on television viewers.

"Despite the Democrats 'lie about online and television viewership, we have 147.9 million followers. The Republican National Conference beat Democrats' conference.

In another post citing the numbers published by his campaign, Trump argued that "fake news sites don't want to report these numbers".

"The LA Times and other sites believed Democrats before they had real numbers. Too bad we don't have honest information when it comes to Trump," he wrote.

The US president often sees television viewers as a measure of success.

"The viewers of the White House press conference are also towering, but I don't care about this. What I care about is that fake news is spreading to the people," Trump wrote at the time.

The race to enter the White House between Trump and Biden has become increasingly intense.

Meanwhile, Trump repeatedly attacked rival Joe Biden and painted a dark picture of America's future if the Democratic candidate was elected.
