Trump said that Governor Doug Ducey was "traitor" after the Republican member certified election results in the state of Arizona.

"What's going on with Doug Ducey? Republicans will remember a long time!" US President Donald Trump wrote on Twitter on November 30, just hours after Governor Ducey signed the election results.

This is just one of a series of public criticism that Trump launched against the state leader in Arizona, which has a tradition of supporting the Republican party for decades.

"Why is he in such a rush to bring a Democrat to power? Especially when so many bad things related to election fraud are being revealed at an ongoing hearing at the moment.

The "hearing" that Trump refers to is in fact the public meeting between the lawyers of his campaign and a group of Arizona lawmakers, taking place a few kilometers from the state parliament building.

Trump then reposted a statement from a TV presenter that Ducey had "betrayed the people of Arizona" and commented that "yes".

The President also posted a fictitious conversation in which Kemp said Georgia had "conducted the most degrading election in American history", to which Ducey replied: "Look at me."

Governor Ducey has yet to speak up after Trump's offensive post.

"The problems that exist in other states simply don't happen here. We have also repeatedly committed to comply with the law and this is what the law says," Ducey tweeted.

During his visit to Arizona just before the election, Trump made clear he hoped Ducey would help him win 11 electoral votes in this battlefield state.

Ducey has avoided making skeptical comments about the state electoral system, even though it is not until a few weeks since the election day that he officially recognizes Biden's victory.

"In Arizona, we count the votes cast until election day. That's it. No judges intervened and no last minute changes. We strictly abide by Arizona election laws."
