Geet, the Indian star with more than 10 million followers on TikTok, was dumbfounded to hear that the government had banned Chinese social networking apps.
Since June 29, Geet's mailbox has been flooded with worried messages from followers across India.
Last year, she uploaded 15 videos to her account every day, each 20 seconds long.
"I was dumbfounded when I found out. Posting on the app is my full-time job, now I know what to do," Geet said, saying it was extremely surprising that the Indian government banned TikTok and many applications.
The 59 ban on popular Chinese applications was issued by the Indian government on June 29 amid relations between the two countries became strained over border disputes.
Her followers are bewildered.
Growing rapidly thanks to cheap Internet and a young population, TikTok has attracted about 200 million users in the past three years in India.
These videos exist in tandem with a number of videos that contain hate speech, agitation, prejudice against women and violence.
Most videos posted on TikTok are 15 seconds long.
"It's an infinitely fascinating repository. Many ethnic groups in many fields have found themselves a forum here. People of opposite sex are often free to express themselves. Women are asserting themselves.
Geet is a good example.
The majority of Geet followers are young and aspiring.
In a video that has been viewed a lot by the channel, Geet teaches to speak in English the types of slippers she has in her home such as flip-flops, western shoes, slippers, flat shoes, high heels.
In one video, she corrects the way her mother pronounces words like breakfast, dessert, food, vegetables and pears, using American intonation.
"Every video is lively, fun and educational," she said.
The other two channels of Geet offer relationship advice and motivational conversations for young people, based on the questions she receives from fans.
"The question I get most often is what to do after a breakup. What to do next if my partner doesn't spend time with me. Married people often ask about husband and wife conflicts and domestic violence.
TikTok, according to Geet, has changed the lives of so many people she knows.
"Many of my friends depend on this app, which is their main source of revenue," Geet said.
An Uber driver in Delhi recognized her and asked Geet to film a video with his phone, giving his "unwilling study" son some advice.
Geet says the app has changed her life.
"It's a fair forum. You see a lot of people who have different capacities on TikTok and are accepted by others," she said.
The time when India imposed a blockade to prevent Covid-19 was a stressful time for her and her fans.
Geet's situation seems to be even more difficult with the ban issued on June 29.
"Don't worry, don't lose your courage. Wait. Let us think in a way that all problems have a solution and we will meet again. Don't lose hope and don't do foolish things",
