Thousands gathered at the National Mall National Park in Washington, DC, to pray and support President Donald Trump.

The march stretching from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, the US parliament building, was held hours before Trump officially announced the nomination of judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Only a few people in the crowd wore masks.

Vice President Mike Pence attended the event.

"Today at this Washington prayer rally you have continued a wonderful tradition," said Pence.

Many in the crowd appeared to be Liberty University students in Virginia.

The march is organized by the Rev.

"Father, our country is in trouble. We need your help," Graham prayed at the march.

The media estimated thousands of people to join the march, but the organizers confirmed that around 50,000 participated, making it one of the largest gatherings in the country since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Judge Barrett, 48, was nominated by Trump to the Supreme Court to replace the late judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died of cancer at age 87 on September 18.
