US The Grand Princess boat is being blockaded off the coast of San Francisco in connection with the first death from nCoV in California.

The 71-year-old man died on March 4 in California as one of three passengers who were positive for nCoV after a round-trip trip by the Grand Princess from San Francisco to Mexico last month.

When the ship docked in San Francisco port on February 21, thousands of passengers disembarked and thousands more boarded to embark on a new journey to Hawaii.

The Grand Princess was originally scheduled to return to San Francisco harbor on the evening of March 4, but officials requested a delay for patrol and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to coordinate the inspection. The Grand Princess will be anchored in international waters off California while a helicopter flies to the sampling ship to take back to a laboratory.

There are 11 passengers and 10 crew members reporting flu-like symptoms, Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, said at a news conference. A sailor who served on a trip to Mexico was under medical examination in Hawaii for flu-like symptoms but received a negative result for nCoV.

In addition to the 21 people with suspected symptoms, officials also planned to test 62 passengers and a number of sailors who had been on a Mexican tour and remained on board to continue visiting Hawaii. They were instructed to remain in the cabin until they were determined to be virus-negative by health workers.

It is estimated that more than 50% of the passengers who left the train on February 21 are California residents, Mr. Newsom said. State officials and the CDC are trying to track about 2,500 people who have disembarked and are likely to be infected with nCoV, focusing on close contacts of the dead.

This is one of the factors that caused Newsom to declare a state of emergency in California, where 51 Covid-19 cases were recorded. Apart from the man in California, the remaining 10 deaths in the US are in Washington state. The country currently records 158 cases.
