The deployment came shortly after USS Theodore Roosevelt completed its test and was ready to go to sea, ending two months in the harbor because of Covid-19.

"The missions are still in progress and are not delayed by nCoV. We will continue to uphold regional security and ensure high combat readiness", Rear Admiral George M. Wikoff, commander of the group

The aircraft carriers USS Nimitz and USS Ronald Reagan have recorded several cases of nCoV, but did not experience the Covid-19 outbreak like USS Theodore Roosevelt due to the recent months of maintenance at the port.
