China recorded 57 more cases of nCoV, the highest daily increase since April, mainly in the community in Beijing.
The National Health Commission of China (NHC) today said the country recorded a total of 83,132 cases of nCoV, of which 4,634 died.
Residents of 11 residential areas in Fengtai district, south of Beijing, were asked yesterday not to leave their homes after the majority of new cases related to the nearby Xinfadi butcher market.
The first case of nCoV in Beijing after two months was announced on June 11.
Hundreds of police and dozens of police officers were deployed to the market.
Covid-19 originated from China in December 2019, appearing in more than 210 countries and territories with more than 7.8 million cases and more than 431,000 deaths.
The epidemic in China has been virtually controlled thanks to strict and widespread blockade measures.
