South Korean health officials recorded 52 more cases of corona virus, making the total number of infections tripled in just two days.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that of the 52 new cases detected today, 41 were in Daegu, a city 300 km southeast of Seoul.
Before February 20, Korea had a total of 51 nCoV infections. However, the number of cases has increased exponentially since yesterday, when health officials discovered 53 more people who were positive for nCoV, including 51 in Daegu. Many of these cases were spread by a 61-year-old female patient in Daegu City after attending a church service together.
New cases discovered today have tripled the number of nCoV patients in the country to 156.
KCDC afternoon 20/2 recorded the first death from nCoV. The patient, in his 60's, was on nCoV treatment at a hospital in Cheongdo city, southeast of the country. Health officials warned that the epidemic began to spread and put the cities of Daegu and Cheongdo under "special management".
The Covid-19 epidemic, which began in Wuhan, China in December 2019, has been reported in 28 countries and territories around the world, making 76,202 people infected and 2,247 dead. 18,221 people recovered and 12,064 people were in critical condition.
Outside of Korea, 10 deaths from nCoV have been recorded outside of mainland China, including Japan, France, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Iran.
