Far-right members of the Proud Boys will flock to Washington DC on the day the US congress confirms the election victory for Joe Biden to oppose the result.
"We will spread across Washington DC into small groups," said Enrique Tarrio, leader of the far-right all-male group Proud Boys, writing on the social networking platform Parler on Jan. 2.
Trump twice last week urged supporters to gather in Washington on Jan. 6 in a last-ditch effort to pressure Congress not to confirm Joe Biden's victory.
Concerned demonstrations will lead to violence.
The Proud Boys also clashed over the summer with protesters in the Antifa and Black Lives Matter movements following the death of colored man George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis in late May.
The results of the count of electoral votes in the states showed that Biden had won 306 votes, higher than the threshold of 270 votes needed to win, and Trump won 232 votes.
At the January 6 parliamentary session, Vice President Mike Pence, who holds the presidency of the Senate, will open the electoral votes of each state for the members of the parliament to confirm, then declare the winner
Trump and his allies planned to "flip" the election results by having Republicans file petitions against electoral votes in battlefield states that were accused of fraud.
