The UN concluded that Iran produced missiles used in Saudi raids in 2019, but did not accuse Tehran of carrying out the attack.

"The weapons used in the series of attacks on Saudi oil and gas facilities last year originated from Iran. They can be delivered in a manner that is contrary to the UN resolution," the Secretary-General said.

Investigators analyzed fragments of cruise missiles and drones (UAVs) during the Afif oil refinery attack in May 2019, comparing them to weapons obtained after a ground raid.

The investigation team said that the above devices are "identical or similar" in design.

However, UN investigators do not accuse Iran of carrying out these attacks.

Iranian officials have denied the report.

The UN's conclusion could help US President Donald Trump's administration increase pressure amid Washington's desire to extend the arms embargo against Tehran, which is due to expire later this year.

A series of attacks disrupted Saudi oil supplies, leading to a sharp rise in world oil prices.
